Why a new church?
We do not believe another church is needed in the Fort Walton Beach area. However, we do believe a new church is needed that communicates the story of God in a way that engages and excites the unchurched. This is our opportunity to do something significant for the Kingdom of God. The focus of Beachside Community Church is on reaching rather than keeping.
How will you accomplish your mission?
The mission of Beachside Community Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We will accomplish this by creating irresistible environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.
When will Beachside Community Church officially begin?
Beachside has already begun. Visit our Sundays at Beachside page on our official website at beachsidecc.org/sundays-at-beachside/ for our Sunday schedule.
What does it mean to be a strategic partner of North Point Ministries?
As a Strategic Partner we share the same mission, values, and strategy as North Point while existing as an autonomous church with local leadership. This provides us coaching and accountability from one of the most amazing churches in North America while giving us the flexibility to minister within the specific context of our community. You can learn more about North Point at northpoint.org.
Do you use video messages on Sunday mornings?
As a strategic partner of North Point Ministries, we use the sermon portion of the North Point Community Church worship service a large percentage of the time. At other times the Beachside staff present the message. The other aspects of the worship service will be led by our local ministry staff.
We desire to use video because we believe this is the best means to bring relevant messages to our congregation and fulfill our mission to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. As long as the video technique is meaningful and helpful we will continue to use video messages for preaching and a local ministry staff for ministry. If we determine another technique is more relevant and helpful in accomplishing our mission, we will adopt it.
What is the leadership structure of Beachside Community Church?
The best way to describe the structure of our organization is to say that we are:
• guarded by the Elders
• guided by the Staff
• gifted through the membership
Who is the pastor of Beachside Community Church?
The Lead Pastor of Beachside Community Church is Shaun Ellis. Shaun leads the staff of Beachside in its day-to-day operations and in discerning the ministry needs of those who attend Beachside and those who live in the community. Shaun is continuing to build an incredible staff. Visit our staff page on our main Beachside website for more on our staff.
What denomination is Beachside affiliated with?
Beachside is a non-denominational church. This means that we are not affiliated with any denomination, such as Baptist, Methodist, etc. In organizing this church, our desire was to be an attractive environment for those who do not regularly attend church. We feel that denominational titles mean more to people who already attend church than people who don’t. We have discovered that there are more disadvantages to a denominational title than there are advantages.
Will Beachside Community Church have adult Sunday School?
Instead of providing adult Sunday school classes on Sunday mornings in the church building, we provide small group environments that meet at a variety of times during the week in people’s homes. We believe the small group is the best place for sustained life change to occur. In a small group, people study God’s Word together and are in a small enough environment to discuss the issues and challenges of life. It’s also where they pray and care for one another and where they are missed if they don’t show up. Our group structure which is made up of the following adult small groups:
Community groups are made up of five to six couples or five to eight individuals of the same gender. They are the places where people are personally encouraged and challenged in their relationship with God and each other.
Starting Point is a 10-week small group discussion environment for those seeking, starting, or returning to a relationship with God.
Will Beachside Community Church have environments that minister to my children and teenagers?
Yes! It is our desire to create the most incredible environments possible for preschool, children and teens. These environments will include large group gatherings but will be focused on building community in small groups.
What is the financial situation of Beachside Community Church?
Our church is a financially independent organization and will not be receiving funding from any denominations or outside churches (including North Point Ministries). Instead, we will be raising support entirely from those across the country who believe in our vision and from the people in the Fort Walton Beach area. God has been graciously providing for Beachside Ministries, however, we have big dreams that will require big resources. We are now praying that those who believe in the vision and mission of this new church will begin to contribute regularly. Sustained monthly giving is required if we are to continue launching ministry environments. To receive financial information about the church email Bob Bennett at bbennett@firstcitybank.com.
